Fluisterende Stad [City of Whispers] is a slow motion tour of silent Amsterdam.

With all public spaces closed down for months due to the pandemic, many of the city’s most iconic places are desolate, bringing new meaning to these familiar places.

With a small crew of three, we (carefully) visited over 25 places, including churches, saunas, schools, malls and concert venues, to catch a glimpse of the stillness that will hopefully be over soon. Amsterdam’s own City Poet Gershwin Bonevacia wrote the beautiful words to which the images play out.

All love and respect goes to the many people for whom this time is anything but silent, working hard to help others in need, in hospitals, at home, and everywhere else.
